Oregon Woman 'offered" Death by Health Plan

Overall, I have mixed feelings about the way we die in America.

It seems that too many people die alone and in pain after losing all their resources to the Broken Health Care System.(TM) So, in theory at least, I could support a more humane solution to end-of-life concerns.

Unlike many in Disability Nation, I'm not completely opposed to assisted suicide, but I never envisioned it as a cost-saving measure.

The insurance rejection letter Oregon resident Barbara Wagner got reads like a sick joke, a sort of managed-care "Modest Proposal"

In my view they stop just short of suggesting her grieving family mix up some soylent green in the household crock-pot and save on meat.

.

Drugs to prolong the great-grandmother's life: Over $1000 a month.

Drugs to end her life: About $50.

I guess that is one way to close those expensive health-insurance claim files!
